Chapter 1, Page 2: The Rules

"Mutant and alien rights! What's next?!? letting chimpanzees vote???"
The audience on the television laughs.
"Hey, maybe the president himself is an alien!! I mean, c'mon!! Who in  their right mind would make such ridiculous  decrees?!?! Creatures being allowed jobs, allowed apartments and houses, allowed to get licenses and educations!!! Someone needs to take a blood test from the president because I don't know of anyone else who would go to such extremes to help these abominations be part of our world, I'm sorry! I've never been in such disagreement with one of our world leaders as I am with President James Laguire!"

Seth swallows and turns to a guard by his cell. "Turn it off....please..."
The guard looks at Seth and lifts an eye brow, "I'm listening to it...."
He grits his teeth and moans "I don't like hearing them talk about us like this....can't you turn it to something else??"
The guard gives a nasty look and hisses "I don't really give a f*** what you do and don't like. This ain't a hotel...just because you things will be given some freedoms don't mean I have to think of you as one of us....it ain't gonna happen..."

Just as the guard finishes speaking a group of men come in.
"We are here to go over the procedures with everyone."
The guard doesn't say anything, only looks at the men. They are all dressed in suits and ties and look like government officials.
Everyone watches as they set up power points on a computer projection screen and a man finally steps forward. "Good evening. My name is Brian Howard. I've been placed in charge of organizing this next process of the Mutant/Alien Project. I will first go over some key steps of this process. To start, each of you will be evaluated on a personal level to find out if you are socially compatible for release. Violent beings will not be released until cleared as a non-violent being. This is for our protection as well as your own. Once one of you are cleared on a mental level we will conduct physical tests to make sure you are physically fit and healthy. You must be able to lift a certain amount of weight and perform various exercises. CAT scans, MRIs, X-Rays, dental work, and other services will be provided to those who pass the first step of clearance. If any physical ailments are found, services will be given to you to correct the infirmity. It will however slow down your process of clearance. You will not be allowed to be cleared until you are back to health. Physical exams will be given by designated physicians. You will each be assigned a provider who will assess your physical health. Once they clear you, you will finally be given an identification chip. These chips will serve as tracking devices as well as identification and will be inserted in the back of the neck. All of these are mandatory and there will be no exceptions to these procedures."

Every Mutant and Alien in the room was shifting uneasily and getting shaky. Seth was sure he was going to vomit soon.
How could they do this to us?....We never hurt them...Just let us go....
His thoughts were making his mind spin and he was forced to sit on his cot.

"More regulations are being conducted. However, these are some important laws that have been put forth so far: No voting. Voting privileges are for humans only. Any human/creature intimacy and relations is strictly forbidden and punishable by 5-10 years in federal prison. Second case offenders of any crime will be placed back into government custody and not be allowed to be released again. All mutants and aliens must have monthly physician visits and check ups. You will all be held by the same laws we are."

This lecture of do's and don't's went on for five hours...
Finally the men went on an evening break and food was now getting served to the creatures.
The small slot in the thick glass of Seth's cell opened and his tray slid in. The opening was only big enough for the tray, and the tray itself was attached to the opening.
He slowly gets up and walks over to it to see what his meal would be.
A chicken breast with mashed potatoes, gravy and a side of broccoli. On the side to drink was a paper cup of water and a little milk carton. It looked exactly like hospital food. But it actually was not so bad.
He picks up his little plastic utensils and starts eating. He jumps as one of the creatures in the cell next to him bangs on the glass.
"I DON'T F***ING WANT THIS!!!! YOU F***ING BAST***S CAN GO STICK IT!!!!"

Seth sighs and looks down at his food. That guy wasn't probably going to be released any time soon. There were many beings there who had mental illnesses and problems. They were not much different from people at all, even if they were being treated as though they were.
He soon finished his meal and they tray was taken back. He requested more water and started some push ups on the floor. He had made sure he stayed as fit as possible all these years and was nicely toned on his arms, legs, and abs. Tomorrow morning would start the first stage of this next process. All his hopes and prayers were that he would pass evaluation and become one step closer to his dream of being free.
